Young Sameena clutched the microphone and asked Kapil Sibal, the Minister of Human Resource Development, "Why is my school so small? When will we get clean and big rooms?" Not to be left out, Sameena's friend, sitting beside her, chipped in, "We have only one teacher. When will we get more teachers in our school?"

The children had the opportunity to question Kapil Sibal when he attended their school in Chandni Chowk, in old Delhi, to pledge his support to the Awaaz Do campaign.

Surrounded by more than a hundred and fifty children, the Minister assured Sameena and her friends that the central and state governments are working hard to ensure that in the next three years, every school in the country will have clean rooms, separate toilets for boys and girls and one teacher per 30 students in every primary school.


The Minister was presented with a large map of India representing the collective voice of more than two lakh Awaaz Do champions who have spoken up for the eight million children in the country who are currently out of school.

"There are eight million children who need to be provided a discrimination-free, inclusive education. RTE provides for equitable and quality education. The Awaaz Do campaign helps ensure it. Let us be part of it," said Sibal.

So, Awaaz Do Champion, isn't it thrilling? You have energised the campaign with your voice and there is no stopping till every child in India is in school. Go ahead, keep spreading the word and the spirit.
